For all of those who respect, study, protect, educate about, worked with and/or care of Marine Mammals


If you belong to any of the above categories, you will be pleased upon reading this message...

The EAAM - European Association for Aquatic Mammals has revised the conditions for Individual Membership.

As such, and if you already are an EAAM Member, starting of 2010 you will:
- have a reduced annual fee:
* Full Members: €49 (was €60);
* Associate Members: €39 (was €60);
* Student Members: €24 (was €45);
- continue to have reduced fees to attend the EAAM Annual Symposia;
- have access to the Members' special area at the new EAAM website;
- continue to have free online access to scientific journal "Aquatic Mammals";
- receive an extra copy of the EAAM book "The Marine Mammal Contribution - a path with a past and a future" to offer at your discretion.

If you are a former EAAM Member and would like to regain your Member status, you can receive, starting of 2010:
- access to the reduced fees to attend the EAAM Annual Symposia;
- access to the Members' special area at the new EAAM website;
- free online access to scientific journal "Aquatic Mammals" during your membership;
- a free copy of "The Marine Mammal Contribution - a path with a past and a future" for yourself;
- a second free copy of "The Marine Mammal Contribution - a path with a past and a future" to offer to someone of your choice.

If you are considering becoming an EAAM Individual Member, we can offer you:
- free online access to scientific journal "Aquatic Mammals" during your membership;
- a free copy of "The Marine Mammal Contribution - a path with a past and a future " for yourself.

Full Membership

Is limited to veterinarians, biologists, zoo and marine park directors and managers, trainers and husbandry professionals and others who devote a significant proportion of their professional activities to research, medical care, training, education and/or management involving aquatic mammals. You need at least 3 years of experience in the marine mammal field (and a minimum of 4 to 6 months per year for seasonal trainers) to qualify as a full member.

A proposer and seconder are required for a full membership application. Both proposer and seconder must be paid-up full members of the Association and one must be willing to support this proposal, either orally at the next annual meeting or in writing to the Board, if required. Membership fee: 49 €

Lifetime Membership

Is limited to veterinarians, biologists, zoo and marine park directors and managers, trainers and husbandry professionals and others who devote a significant proportion of their professional activities to research, medical care, training, education and/or management involving aquatic mammals. You need at least 3 years of experience in the marine mammal field (and a minimum of 4 to 6 months per year for seasonal trainers) to qualify as a lifetime member.

A proposer and seconder are required for a lifetimemembership application. Both proposer and seconder must be paid-up full members of the Association and one must be willing to support this proposal, either orally at the next annual meeting or in writing to the Board, if required.

Associate Membership

Is open to any other persons who have a strong interest in aquatic mammals and who do not meet the requirements for full membership. Associate members shall have no rights to vote or hold office in the Board.


A proposer and seconder are required for an associate membership application. Both proposer and seconder must be paid-up full members of the Association and one must be willing to support this proposal, either orally at the next annual meeting or in writing to the Board, if required.

Student Membership

Students in full time education, who have an interest in aquatic mammals, may be approved by the Board as student members for a maximum of six years. Student members shall have no rights to vote or hold office in the Board.


A proposer and seconder are required for a student membership application. Both proposer and seconder must be paid-up full members of the Association and one must be willing to support this proposal, either orally at the next annual meeting or in writing to the Board, if required.

Institutional membership

Is open to organisations employing staff, who spend a significant amount of time on the keeping of live, or studies on live or dead aquatic mammals, and whom the Board considers eligible for membership . Such members can be represented at business meetings by a single named member of staff who shall have full voting rights and who may hold office in the same way as an individual member.
